As the sole remaining brush manufacturer in Chesham – a town historically defined by the trade – R Russell represents a significant piece of British industrial heritage. Now in its sixth generation of family ownership, the company continues to utilise traditional techniques to produce bespoke commissions for global distribution, as well as specialised items for film, television and historic restoration.
I was commissioned to develop a new visual identity that would bridge the gap between the company’s storied past and its future growth. The objective was to create a brand mark that honours the legacy of traditional craftsmanship while appealing to a contemporary audience. The resulting identity balances classic typographic elements with a modern aesthetic, ensuring the brand remains relevant in a high-end, global marketplace.
